Saturday’s Mental Wellness Fair to address depression, suicide, wellness dimensions & more
The Town of Wake Forest and several community partners will host the Second Annual Wake Forest Mental Wellness Fair on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 1-4 p.m., at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St.
Led by Commissioner Nick Sliwinski, the fair is designed to raise awareness about mental wellness and provide information on community programs, services, and resources available to loved ones who may be suffering from untreated or undertreated mental illness.
Offering activities for children and teens, as well as information for families, seniors, and veterans, the fair will feature a keynote presentation on the “8 Dimensions of Wellness.” The event will also include an Intergenerational Expressive Arts breakout session, a dance presentation on dealing with grief, and interactive drumming for all ages and stages.
Several vendor advocates will be onsite from local organizations, agencies, and non-profits that provide services in the areas of mental health, health care, social services, and more. These advocates will share information on topics ranging from depression and suicide to holiday grief, veterans’ services, and wellness.
The Town of Wake Forest and the Wake Forest Fire Department will provide free food – while it lasts, in the Renaissance Centre parking lot.
Preregistration is encouraged - but not required - by completing the online signup form at https://bit.ly/WFMentalWellnessFair.
Saturday’s Mental Wellness Fair is free and open to all – whether you need help or want to know how to support those who do. For more information, email Community Outreach Manager Andrew Brown, Jr. at abrown@wakeforestnc.gov.
